As my regular readers will continue to notice, this blog is a little slow at the moment. It’s not a case of hobby malaise anymore, but instead comes from other priorities taking over in my life. I want to get back into painting more, but I don’t have much time these days and when I do manage to scrape together a couple of hours of free time, I’m usually too knackered to pick up my brush. All those plans i made at the end of last year are taking a bit of a hit but I’m hoping to turn that around soonish.
To that end, I have reached out to one of my favourite 40k groups for a bit of help and inspiration and I think they deserve a plug here. They are the fine folks over at the Warhammer 40,000 Community on Google+. It’s not the most widely used platform out there, but there are good numbers and it’s always growing, and the set up of community pages really lends itself to constructive discussions and sharing work. And there are lots of other cool communities out there and G+ has some pretty fun features too.
I can give you a very recent example of this here, because, this group has helped me get my arse in gear and get going on my Mortifactors once again. One thing that G+ has (which facebook used to have but dropped) is the ability to post polls, and so, I posted the following:
All I knew is that I wanted to paint something big, but I didn’t really have a preference or the strength of conviction to do anything about it. I’ll hopefully get around to painting all of these at some point, but I had no way of deciding where to start. So, I’d like to thank the G+ 40k Community for making this decision for me and responding with constructive comments, and i can now confirm that I have placed an order with Forge World for a Dreadnought, which will hopefully be here next week.
And just to show you that I am as mad as ever, and as ambitious as I ever was, I thought I would post up here what will be the base of a MORTIFACTORS dreadnought. I really don’t make things easy for myself…
Anyway, keep an eye on this space for updates on this project (and others if I ever get round to them), and I highly recommend popping over to G+ and joining the community. Link is above in the text. Onwards!
A great choice. Among Dreads I think the Contemptors, and Chapter-specific ones to be precise, take the cake in quality.
