The last army that I completed was my 2000pts Grey Knights force which was a lot of fun to do simply because I’d got bogged down in my far larger Death Guard force for quite some time before that. If you’ve been avidly following this blog up until now, you’ll have seen my Callidus Assassin and Contemptor Dreadnought in other posts. Well, I thought I’d introduce you to a few more members of the gang. Starting with this fella…
The Terminator Librarian is a Grey Knights classic. He’s tough as houses (especially when equipped with the Nemesis Warding Stave) and his access to level 3 psychic mastery means he can dish out a lot of nasty powers too. The Servo skulls are really fun little additions that, if placed properly, can really annoy your opponents in small but satisfying ways. Very fun to paint, and only a slight conversion with the head of the stave.
Don’t let your Librarian get lonely! Hook him up with a bodyguard made from arguably the best troop choice in the game – Grey Knights Terminators. With the extra attacks given by the falchions, the heavy hitting psycannon/hammer combo, and a Justicar answering challenges with the extra initiative point granted by the helbard, these guys can appear from deep strike, lay down a mess of fire and then charge into battle fearing very little indeed. It was also the first time I put my brush to the task of making those swords look bluish and interesting. I think it turned out alright.
I also tend to take Castellan Crowe with my Grey Knights which means I can take Purifiers as troops. This is my favourite group of them, and they usually roll into battle in a Lasback, just to give them a bit of cover against the big nasties that they might run into.
I’ll try and get some more pics of the rest of the army sometime soon, so stay tuned for more Grey Knights goodness. Onwards!
