A welcome bit of slime. Yesterday, I delved into my most recent Forge World splurge and fished out this Daemon Herald. It was a really fun miniature to work on and offers lots of organic and mechanic components to stretch the repertoire. I’m exceptionally happy with my work on that rusted mechanical claw that you can see a little better here…
So much rust! All of this was achieved with copper and iron-coloured undercoating which was then slathered in inks and Citadel technical paints (Corrosion, Rust and a little bit of Oxide) and then highlighted with Steel colours. Great fun and I’m super happy with the way that came out.
On the rest of the model, I’m really happy with the bloating organs and the trail of slime achieved using Citadel’s Nurgle’s Rot. Here are a couple more shot for your enjoyment.
Now, a couple of other thoughts and closing remarks. Firstly I was a little surprised at how big this guy is – I really thought it sat on a standard infantry base but as you can see below, he’s a hefty fellow…
He’s a chunky guy and looks great with the rest of my Nurgle followers. Yet another nice surprise than
Now, you may already know but the only way to get this Herald is to buy the big Daemon Prince, Mamon, and yes, he is currently being put together, cleaned and prepared. He’s going to take a while so you might have to wait on him.
You’ll also have to wait as I’m off on holiday tomorrow, heading to foreign parts to enjoy some sun, some time away from work and some curious cuisine. That all means that there won’t be much (or probably any) posts next week. Normal service shall be resumed when I have a tan.
And, finally, this marks 50 posts on Heresy and Heroes! Just a little landmark to give you there. May Grandfather Nurgle, She Who Thirsts, Khaine and the Divine Emperor permit a lot more!
