Well, this is quite a thing. For the first time in a while, I have no shiny, freshly painted minis to show you on a monday morning. Standards are slipping around here obviously. I had a few things to do this weekend and barely had a chance to sit at my desk and get my paintbrush wet. What’s more, there’s not much fun left in the backlog. Dire times.
However, I have taken some steps to ensure that in the coming weeks and months, I’ll have plenty of awesome sauce to drizzle on your screens on a regular basis. Here’s a quick look at what I’ll be bringing to you in the not too distant (and hopefully not too ‘grimdark’) future…
Vanguard Vets
These guys may be a little ‘sub-optimal’ (as if that ever really meant anything to me!) on the table top, but they’re one of my favourite kits that GW currently produce, and they look fearsome too. These guys will be escorting my Captain into battle and will be built as close-combat specialists with power swords and lightning claws. Oh, and speaking of weapons, you get sooo many on these sprues – I’m drowning in thunder hammers over here! So, very early days as you can see by these pictures, but they’ll be the next edition to my Mortifactors force. Watch this space for further updates.
Relic
One of my favourite boardgames ever was the original Talisman. It’s exciting and lots of fun too with so much depth to play. When GW and Fantasy Flight announced that they would be releasing Relic, a 40k-themed version, I was very happy. Then I saw the bust that they released and had very happy nerd-crisis. I saw it in a store on saturday morning and just couldn’t resist it. And I’ve set myself the challenge of painting all of the busts before I allow myself to play the game so that’ll keep me working hard over the coming weeks.
Here are the busts…
…and here’s the very early WIP on the Ultramarine.
I started with him because I realised that I’ve never painted a Smurf before and that seemed shocking. I’m really looking forward to painting the Sister, the Rogue Trader and the Ogryn but all the busts look great. And you’ll see them all painted up first here.
Forgeworld
I treated myself. I had a minor splurge. I’m going to keep schtum about what exactly will be winging its way to me but rest assured, when it gets painted, you will see it here first. As always, watch this space and thanks for reading!
What’s on your WIP list? What do you think of my dastardly plans? Comments, questions and more below please.
